BioCrossroads is supported by a $2.9 million grant from Lilly Endowment to advance the growth and awareness of life sciences in Indiana through 2021
INDIANAPOLIS (March 4, 2020) – BioCrossroads has announced a two-year, $2.9 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. to the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership Foundation for the continued support of the charitable, educational and scientific activities of BioCrossroads.
BioCrossroads, an initiative of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership, promotes the growth and development of life sciences in Indiana. Since its founding in 2002, it has supported strategies to strengthen Indiana’s existing corporate and university capabilities in the life sciences and has expanded opportunities in the sector by encouraging new business development.
“The accelerated pace of science and technology is quickly changing the life sciences ecosystem in Indiana and across the globe,” said Patty Martin, president and CEO of BioCrossroads. “It’s critical for BioCrossroads to continue increasing our capacity for progress in this space through connecting collaborators, investing in innovative companies and educating Hoosiers about the importance of the life sciences to the state’s economy. We are grateful to Lilly Endowment for helping us extend this significant and transformative work into the new decade.”
To further its nearly two decades of work, BioCrossroads will focus its grant-funded efforts on university engagement, tech and biotech convergence, cross-sector collaboration and support of new and existing programs and activities. Also, BioCrossroads will take a deeper look into the current rapidly changing life sciences landscape to learn more about the challenges and opportunities Indiana faces as it competes globally.
“As the life sciences ecosystem continues to evolve, the road ahead will require even more engagement and creativity — ingredients that BioCrossroads is uniquely positioned to activate with the help of Lilly Endowment,” added Martin.
Grants from Lilly Endowment in support of BioCrossroads go to the CICP Foundation, which supports other charitable, educational and scientific activities of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership. Through such philanthropic funding over the years, BioCrossroads has help launch an impressive array of initiatives to advance the state’s life sciences sector, including AgriNovus Indiana, the Indiana Biosciences Research Institute, IndyHub, Datalys Center for Sports Injury Research, Indiana Health Information Exchange, I-STEM Resource Network and OrthoWorx.
BioCrossroads (www.biocrossroads.com) is Indiana’s initiative to grow, advance and invest in the life sciences, a public-private collaboration that supports the region’s existing research and corporate strengths while encouraging new business development. BioCrossroads invests capital and provides support to life sciences businesses, launches new life sciences enterprises (Indiana Biosciences Research Institute, 16 Tech, Indiana Health Information Exchange, BioCrossroadsLINX, OrthoWorx and Datalys Center), expands collaboration and partnerships among Indiana’s life science institutions, promotes science education and markets Indiana’s life sciences industry.
